Gianluigi Buffon, Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo have been named on the shortlist for the UEFA Men's Player of the Year grant.
The prize, some time ago called the Best Player in Europe Award, was won by Real Madrid star Ronaldo a year ago and has twice been given to Barcelona forward Messi.
Andres Iniesta and Franck Ribery are the main different players to have lifted the trophy.
The prize perceives the best players, paying little mind to nationality, playing for clubs in UEFA regions and is judged on their exhibitions in residential, mainland and global rivalry.
"The waitlist of three players was chosen by a jury containing the 80 mentors of the clubs which took an interest in the gathering phase of the 2016-17 Champions League and Europa League, alongside 55 columnists chose by the European Sports Media (ESM) gathering, speaking to each of UEFA's part relationship," as indicated by UEFA's rules. Mentors were not permitted to vote in favor of players from their own particular groups.
Ronaldo let go Madrid to an association and Champions League twofold last season, and additionally the UEFA Super Cup and Club World Cup, while Messi won the Copa del Rey with Barca and completed as best scorer in La Liga.
Buffon won a Serie An and Coppa Italia double for the third time in three years and achieved the last of the Champions League with Juventus, where they lost 4-1 to Madrid.
Luka Modric came fourth in the voting, in front of Madrid colleague Toni Kroos and Juve star Paulo Dybala.

The honor will be exhibited alongside the four positional prizes for the Champions League for 2016-17 at the gathering stage draw for this present season's opposition on August 24.
